We are the average citizens and Oceanside voters who started the recall. We volunteered our time & money to Recall Council Member erome Kern. As you can see, many of us are seniors,long-time residents of Oceanside and we all care about our City and its future. We want to leave a positive legacy for our children & grandchildren.
We believe our police and fire personnel are dedicated individuals who put their lives on the line for us everyday and we are thankful for them. How dare Jerome Kern insult them on a daily basis and demean them. They are every community's heroes! Kern has made it a vendetta against them since they exposed his private meeting to get rid of our paramedic-staffed ambulances.
KERN voted to terminate or demote 2 Police Officers, 3 Firefighters and an emergency Dispatcher plus numerous investigative personnel. The Police Chief said this will likely lead to an increase in crime.
KERN WORKS FOR DEVELOPERS, NOT YOU & ME
Getting rid of Kern will save the city Millions of Dollars he has used to subsidize his developer buddies. He recently gave these guys a 2 year pass on paying development plan fees! That amounts to $9 Million for residential utility projects alone plus untold MILLIONS of DOLLARS for commercial projects! Developers have never paid full price ever for the services they receive from the City; you and I do from the General Fund monies. That is the money that is supposed to keep our parks and libraries open, fix our roads, etc. Kern answers to the Building Industry Association (BIA), not the residents! Now we find out that a huge sewer increase is being proposed so we can subsidize the new downtown developments! Outrageous. Why should we subsidize private development? We shouldn't and Jerome Kern has to go so this stops!
The recall of Jerome Kern will save the City Millions of Dollars he has frittered away on his pet projects that will never be built like the RDO interchange and the Melrose extension.
KERN DOESN'T RESPECT SENIORS & VETERANS
The recall of Jerome Kern will save our seniors, veterans and limited-income residents from getting thrown out of their homes. Kern is taking lots of money from the mobile home park owners and if you don't think he will vote to get rid of rent control, think again!
**In spite of what you may have heard, we, the Committee to Recall Kern, have worked hard and gotten thousands of signatures on the petition. With the help of private money from our valiant, life-saving police and fire, we were able to get 17,043 signatures in about four months. (This is thousands more signatures than the number of votes Kern received when he ran for office.)
At no time were any voters deceived to obtain their signatures. Mr. Kern has made this claim and it is absolutely false.

Jerome Kern voted to eliminate 3 firefighter positions- this will make you less safe! He has also threatened the rent-control ordinance and would like to private our paramedics. Thanks to Jerome Kern, residents are subsidizing private development downtown and will pay HUGE increases in our water and sewer bills thanks to Jerome Kern! He also plans huge increases to our trash bills!
We must keep our seniors and veterans in their homes and we must keep our paramedics who can administer life-saving medications. We must keep water, sewer & trash rates LOW- the only way to do that is to vote "YES" on the recall and get Jerome Kern out of office. NOW!

- Kern tried to automatically extend the Waste Management contract, about $20million, without any public input or input from the City's Integrated Waste Management Commissioners. This would cost every single rate payer in the City more money! Citizens would have NO RIGHT to a public hearing on fee increases!

Kern said he will vote for a trash transfer station at Jones Road that is currently the Fire Department's training facility- this will cost the City millions in road repairs from thousands of trash trucks This will also raise trash rates!
